Last weekend was Club Championship qualifying, and I was thrilled to qualify for the matchplay rounds. I also had the pleasure of sharing Best Net with the lovely Denise, and we were presented with the Inez Porter Salver, a beautiful silver tray.
It was one of those rounds that could have been even better. I had a really solid front nine, but a visit to the water on the 14th and a thinned chip on the 15th proved costly. Overall though, very happy with the result.
During the week, Wayne and I managed to sneak away for an early morning round at Karori Golf Club. It was one of those beautiful winter mornings that remind you just how lucky we are to play this game. Not a breath of wind, the birds were in full song, and I honestly couldn't wait to get on the first tee.
The golf itself was fairly ordinary—there were a few shots worth celebrating and a few I'd happily forget—but it didn't matter. I was just so grateful being out there.
Last night we celebrated our Miramar interclub players with a lovely dinner. These evenings are such a special part of golf. Spending time with your teammates away from the course, sharing stories and more than a few laughs, and recognising everyone who commits their time to representing the club makes you appreciate what a wonderful community golf really is.
There's no golf for me this weekend as I'm heading to Melbourne for my daughter's baby shower. We're counting down the weeks until we meet our little grandson, who is due in October, and I couldn't be more excited.
Enjoy your golf this weekend. The Wellington forecast isn't looking especially good, here's hoping its a little better in your neck of the woods.
See you next Friday,
